Compensation and Schedule
Pay Range: $20.00/hr
Days: Monday - Friday
Hours: 6:45 a.m. - 5:45 p.m., 37.5 hours per week
Job Summary
Provide a safe, respectful, and healthy environment for children enrolled in YWCA Early Learning Centers. Plan and deliver age-appropriate programs that foster physical, emotional, intellectual, and social development.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Assist Site Manager with supervising, training, and evaluating assistant teachers and volunteers.
Work Environment
Office and Early Childhood Education settings, interacting with children from 8 weeks to 5 years old.
Essential Duties
- Follow protocols for reporting child abuse and neglect
- Respond to medical situations and administer medication as needed
- Maintain safety and accountability of children
- Build positive relationships with families and community
- Ensure compliance with licensing, accreditation, and safety standards
- Observe and assess children's development
- Plan and manage developmentally appropriate activities
- Support children with additional needs and implement inclusion plans
- Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with staff and parents
- Mentor staff and address performance issues
- Stay current with best practices in early childhood education
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood, Sociology, Education, or 12 College Credits in Early Childhood
- At least 1 year of experience working with children
- Connecticut State Head Teacher Certification or ability to obtain it
- Knowledge of curriculum planning and child development
- CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 2 months)
Additional Qualifications
- Pass background checks
- Physical ability to perform job duties
- Own transportation, valid driver’s license, and proof of insurance
