Qualifications

  • Must possess knowledge of Hebrew language and Jewish customs.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

Magen David Yeshivah Early Childhood Center, a Jewish Preschool located in Brooklyn, is offering highly competitive salaries for experienced Early Childhood Nursery Hebrew Speaking Teacher. Moving toward actively creating a constructivist approach to education, we are becoming a Reggio-inspired school bringing in new staff and new leadership. Our teachers participate in school-wide Professional Development programs as well as courses and conferences of individual interest. The school year is consistent with the Jewish calendar and closed during the summer.

Responsibilities:
  1. In a classroom environment, Teachers will plan and supervise a warm, nurturing developmentally appropriate environment for the development of the whole child while integrating a program of both Limudei Hol and Limudei Kodesh under Magen David Yeshivah’s high level of care and educational standards.
  2. Head Teacher will design and maintain a classroom environment that facilitates active, hands-on learning, group management, self-expression and choice, and inclusion of all children, parents, volunteers and staff.
  3. Teach within a project-based program involving teaching through engaging topics that allow the integration of meaningful learning in all content areas while also supporting development across multiple domains.
  4. Judaic studies are integrated and reinforced throughout the day.
  5. Communicate with parents and school counselors on student progress.
  6. Evaluate each student’s growth in knowledge and skills in the course being taught.
  7. Cultivate core Jewish values such as kindness, respect, compassion and integrity within students.
  8. Participate in various student and parent activities which occur in school including PTA and student clubs.
Qualifications:
  1. Knowledge of Hebrew language is a must.
  2. Head teacher should have a minimum of Bachelor’s degree with intention to complete a Master’s degree.
  3. Hold certification and/or license in Early Childhood Education.
  4. Preference will be given to those with teaching experience.
  5. Knowledge of the Jewish Holidays.
  6. Experience in emergent curriculum is a plus.
  7. A background in constructivist- play based settings is a plus.
