Job summary

Léman Manhattan is seeking a qualified School Nurse to join our health services team. The role supports PK–Grade 5 students, conducts health screenings, provides care for injuries and illnesses, and ensures compliance with NYS immunization requirements.

The ideal candidate holds a NYS nursing license, CPR/First Aid, a Bachelor's degree, and at least one year of school-nurse experience; proficiency with Magnus software and strong communication skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of all health matters within the school
• Provides clear guidance to students, families, and staff members regarding management and follow up for all health matters
• Conducts daily health screenings for all students upon school entry
• Provides direct care during the school day to students from PK through Grade 5 for injuries and acute illness
• Experience with monitoring children on a continuous insulin infusion pump and/or long-term management of students with special health care needs
• Conducts lice checks as needed
• Collaborates closely with administration and participate in the Student Support Team (SST)
• Communicates clearly and proactively with parents, faculty and staff on student illnesses
• Adheres to and promote all school health policies
• Facilitates New York State mandated immunization and communicable disease control requirements
• Serves as a health resource and educator in the health instruction curriculum
• Demonstrates initiative, leadership, organization and decision-making skills, coupled with objectivity and good professional judgment in stressful situations
• Proficiency in basic computer operation, including electronic health records management office software, online research and database operation, and Magnus software
• Utilizes learning management and student information systems provided by the school
• Presents a positive role model for students that supports the mission of the school; demonstrates behavior that is professional as identified in Employee Handbook (inside and outside of school)
• Continues to grow professionally by participating in educational opportunities, reads professional publications, and participates in professional organizations
• Demonstrates flexibility and a positive attitude toward new challenges and growth opportunities
• Participates in school-wide events; attends during and after-school functions in support of school community
• Attends and participates in all required faculty and staff meetings and serves on school committees as required

• Completes responsibilities as assigned by Division Head or direct supervisor based on student and school needs (e.g. test proctoring)
• Support the needs of the Leman+ program on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:30-5pm and Friday 3:30-4:30pm.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree
• Current license to practice in New York State
