Summary

The Teacher is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team, coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. Teachers must understand children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development to ensure a safe and stimulating environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. The Teacher must communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff, guide teacher assistants, and resolve parental concerns.

Duties

  • Coordinate and implement educational curriculum based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
  • Lead by example; encourage team success through modeling and coaching.
  • Plan age-appropriate activities to foster social, cognitive, and emotional growth.
  • Maintain communication with parents via discussions, reports, and conferences.
  • Ensure compliance with center policies and state regulations.
  • Maintain a healthy classroom environment, including hygiene, safety, and security standards.
  • Supervise teacher assistants and volunteers to ensure adherence to planned activities and standards.
  • Keep accurate records, forms, and files.
  • Engage in continuous professional development.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of professional childcare experience.
  • Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
  • High energy, teamwork skills, and understanding of child development.
  • Clear background check and health screening.
  • Associate's degree in early childhood education or related field with at least 30 ECE credits (CDA).
  • Physical ability to perform duties, including walking, handling objects, and kneeling.
  • Leadership and organizational skills.
  • Experience with preschool-aged children.
