Cherry Creek Careers is seeking an Instructional Para Educator to support students under licensed staff. You will help individuals or small groups with basic curriculum work, prepare materials, reinforce learning, and assist with behavior and discipline procedures.

Under supervision, you will monitor students, assist with assessments, and help with clerical tasks in the classroom, contributing to a positive instructional environment for diverse learners.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of a licensed staff member, assist students by helping individuals or small groups of students with basic curriculum work, implementing programming, reinforcing learning skills, and reinforcing discipline procedures. Assist classroom teacher by preparing classroom materials, monitoring students, and evaluating and recording student achievement. May include work with behaviorally challenging children.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • 1. Assist classroom teacher in preparing materials, administering tests, grading, attendance, etc. Assist with paperwork and documentation as needed. Frequency: Daily, Percentage of Time: 30%
  • 2. Assist students with classroom activities. Assist with curriculum delivery to both individuals and small groups to ensure mastering of subjects. Frequency: Daily, Percentage of Time: 30%
  • 3. Monitor students and reinforce appropriate behavior during various activities such as play, lunch, detention, in-school suspension, in the classroom, or on field trips. Frequency: Daily, Percentage of Time: 20%
  • 4. Perform basic clerical work for the classroom teacher, including typing, stapling, filing, duplicating, taking inventory, scheduling repairs and maintenance, data entry, word processing, laminating, ordering supplies, placing phone calls, materials distribution, and light bookkeeping. Frequency: Daily, Percentage of Time: 10%
  • 5. Assist with other classroom events, such as field trips or fire drills, as necessary. Frequency: Daily, Percentage of Time: 5%
  • 6. Perform other duties as assigned or requested. Frequency: Daily, Percentage of Time: 5%

This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum prerequisites of formal education, professional work experience, certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, trainings, and other criteria that a candidate must fulfill to be considered for a position. It is essential that certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, and trainings are fulfilled, valid, and not expired.

  • Criminal background check and fingerprinting required
  • High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma
  • No professional work experience required
  • Title I assignments must meet one of the following requirements:
    • Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education; or
    • Obtained an associate’s or higher degree; or
    • Met a rigorous standard of quality, and can demonstrate through a formal state or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing, as appropriate:
      • Reading/language arts, writing, and mathematics; or
      • Reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness
  • Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Intermediate English language skills
  • Intermediate oral and written communication skills
  • Advanced interpersonal relations skills
  • Advanced organizational skills
  • Ability to work alone and with others
  • Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job
  • Ability to work one-on-one and in small groups with students
