Job Description
Job Purpose:

To provide a warm, nurturing, safe, and loving environment in which children can grow physically, emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually.

Responsibilities:
Model Behavior:
  • Relate joyfully and sensitively to children
  • Pray with and for others
  • Acknowledge and respect others’ feelings
  • Work cooperatively with others
  • Encourage good behavior and correct inappropriate behavior
  • Build and strengthen positive relationships with others
Provide Instruction:
  • Assist with curriculum implementation in accordance with ECM's mission, purpose, and philosophy, supporting the lead teacher under supervision of the director
  • Collaborate with co-teacher
  • Maintain current assessments on children in the classroom
  • Communicate with families about children’s progress
  • Follow lead teacher’s substitute plans when absent
  • Adhere to policies adopted by the board and Staff Handbook
  • Attend staff meetings and ECM functions
  • Participate in professional development
  • Handle crisis situations with good judgment and use supervision constructively
Schedule:

Monday-Friday, Center hours are 6:30 am - 5:30 pm, scheduled hours may vary.

Position Requirements:
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR or willingness to obtain
  • Meet Wisconsin state education criteria for lead teachers (per DCF 251)
  • Experience working with young children in an educational setting
Preferred Qualities:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education
  • State Licensed Teacher Certification
  • Registry Level of 6 or higher
