Job description

SUMMARY
The Early Childhood Exceptional Education Teacher Assistant assists the Early Childhood Exceptional Education and General Early Childhood Education Teacher with instruction and medically relevant support for students with disabilities. This position assists with academic and functional curriculum. The Early Childhood Exceptional Education Teacher Assistant may provide adult support with daily living skills and enhancement of present levels of performance, behavioral support, and reinforcement of therapy goals.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
AND
Completion of an AZ Dept. of Education-approved Academic Assessment Test OR Associate’s (or higher) degree OR Two-years (60 Semester-Hour credits) of study at an institute of higher learning
One (1) year of experience working with youth or children
Computer skills, to include the ability to use email
Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions
Copy of diploma, transcripts or test results must be submitted at time of application
Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
CPR and First Aid Certification - Certification must be maintained current during course of employment
Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization
Documentation of a negative tuberculosis screening test, administered within 12 months before the start date; or if a candidate has had a positive test, a written statement signed and dated by a health care provider within six months before the start date stating candidate is free from infectious active tuberculosis. A negative tuberculosis screening test is required every 12 months of employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Special Education experience
Experience working with children with disabilities
Experience working with children or adults in a vocational setting

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE
Must complete Student Intervention Techniques (SIT) training within 6 months of hire
Must release Social Security Number to be eligible for AHCCCS-Provider ID Number
A minimum of six units of formal Early Childhood training classes required OR must be willing to enroll in courses.
