Early Childhood Family Education Classes.

Tuesday afternoon, Thursday evening, Friday morning and a 3’s afternoon Family Playtime session held once a month on Fridays.

Hours vary (between 12 and 13 hours/week)

Overview

District 196 is a state and nationally recognized public school district covering 110 square miles in northern Dakota County, Minnesota. District 196 serves approximately 150,000 residents including more than 29,000 students in Early Childhood programs through grade 12 and approximately 11,500 Birth – 4 year olds.

Early Childhood Family Services, a program of Community Education, offers families with children birth through prekindergarten a variety of programs and services including Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE), Connections Preschool (School Readiness) and Family School (Family Literacy).

Qualifications

  • Minnesota Teacher License in Early Childhood Education or Birth to 3rd grade
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Knowledge of Community Education, early childhood programs and developmental needs of young children
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience with children birth to age five preferred
  • Experience in developing, modifying and implementing curriculum for children birth to age five from varied cultural, racial and economic backgrounds
  • Excellent written and oral communication that is consistently welcoming and enhances work relationships
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency working with a culturally, ethnically, racially and socioeconomically diverse school community is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Build rapport and relationships with families, community members and colleagues.
  • Create an environment that is welcoming to all families.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan, design, implement and evaluate curriculum.
  • Lead and facilitate early learning opportunities in ECFE and Connections Preschool program models.
  • Initiate and maintain partnerships and cooperative relationships between early childhood programs and the community, school district programs, private and public organizations, and local and state agencies.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintain and improve professional competence by membership in local and national professional organizations; keep current with professional literature and practices in the field of Early Childhood Education.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled program professional development and staff meetings.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate participant feedback and reports that serve to enhance programming and services.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
