Job summary

Kids Excel in Elkhart, IN is seeking an Early Childhood Educator to ensure safe and caring management and instruction for children aged 7 weeks to 12 years in the Kids Excel program. The role includes monitoring the classroom, serving snacks, and guiding learning activities using the HighScope curriculum.

Qualifications include a High School diploma or GED, 1 year childcare experience preferred, CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain, and strong communication and customer service

Qualifications

• High school diploma and/or GED required.
• Continuing Education in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field preferred.
• 1 year experience in a childcare setting preferred.
• CPR and first aid certification or willingness to obtain.
• Submit to required annual TB screen.
• Working knowledge of computer programs for clerical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates hands-on interactive learning experiences with children.
• Assists in the registration process of children.
• Updates and ensures accuracy of student files.
• Maintains regular communication with parents regarding services, enrollment, scheduling or routine changes.
• Assists in achieving short- and long-term goals for Kids Excel.
• Contributes ideas for curriculum development and program activities.
• Plans and carries weekly lesson plans for children.
• Observes, documents and completes developmentally appropriate assessments.
• Participates in regular team meetings.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Early Childhood Services and Lead Early Childhood Educator.
• Responsible for a classroom of children.
• Travel may be required at times.
