Job summary

The University of Arkansas in Fayetteville seeks an Early Childhood Educator – Classroom Teacher (Teaching Associate) to design and implement developmentally appropriate, emergent, and play‑based curricula for children aged 8 weeks to 5 years at the Jean Tyson Child Development Study Center.

This regular, day-shift position requires an associate degree in ECE or related field, with at least two years of experience with young children; a BA in a related field and knowledge of the NAEYC

• Demonstrated 2+ years of experience with young children.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement developmentally appropriate, emergent, and play‑based curriculum for children aged 8weeks to 5years.

• Document and communicate child development through assessment, learning artifacts, weekly journals, parent–teacher conferences, and classroom portfolios.
• Model and mentor new teaching staff, including part‑time employees, undergraduate students, and aides.
• Maintain regular, reliable attendance and foster collegial, harmonious working relationships.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, human development/family studies, early childhood special education, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• At least two years of experience working with young children and/or directing early childhood programs.
• Demonstrated participation in professional development and/or professional organizations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, human development/family studies, early childhood special education, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• Knowledge of NAEYC accreditation process.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Ability to design and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum.
• Ability to understand the NAEYC accreditation process.
• Ability to model for and mentor undergraduate students and hourly aides.

Additional Information

• Must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States.

Salary

Base salary commensurate with education and experience; minimum starting salary $39,930.
