Description:

Shakopee Public Schools is looking for an Early Childhood Specialist at Pearson Early Learning Center. This full-time, unaffiliated position works 220 days from July 1st to June 30th. General hours are 8:00-4:30 Monday-Friday; however the position requires flexibility to work some evenings, Saturdays, and summer hours. Immediate supervisor is the Pearson Early Learning Center Administrator. This position will be the appointed administrator in the absence of the building administrator.

Job Summary:

The Early Childhood Specialist is a leadership position that manages the development, implementation, and evaluation of Early Childhood Family Education programs, services, and activities. Specific program area responsibilities include: Early Childhood Family Education, Family Literacy, Pathway Scholarships, Parent Aware, Grants, Parent Advisory Council, and works collaboratively with leadership to support School Readiness/VPK, Outreach, Early Childhood Screening, and Early Childhood Special Education.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • ECFE Lead, create and collaborate with community on class offerings, outreach, teaching as needed
  • Family Literacy Lead, first point of contact with our South West Metro collaboration
  • Early Childhood Screening Lead, Outreach, and trained Screener
  • Parent Advisory Council lead/fundraising
  • Pearson STEAM Lab lead
  • Equity Team lead
  • Greeter and Crisis team member
  • Grow Your Own grant lead
  • Data and reports: Screening, ECFE Community Needs Assessment
  • Staff Professional Development planner/collaborator/leader
  • Write, Review and Observe ECFE Lesson plans and parent education core curriculum framework
  • Lead for community and family events: Examples: Vehicle fair, Pearson Family Fun Fest, additional opportunities
  • Create, and launch new summer programing for Pearson
  • Partnership and teammate with ECSE
  • Staff Coach and Mentor
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • MN teaching license in Early Childhood and/or Parent Education or equivalent preferred.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Three or more years of administrative or leadership experience in early childhood family education.
  • Five or more years of teaching experience in early childhood or parent education.
  • Requires experience working with families, early childhood learning programs, and preschool-aged children.

Working Conditions:

The majority of work is performed in normal office and classroom settings but may also involve traveling to homes and other places in the community. The position includes support of students and staff in classrooms and so requires the ability to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, move from sitting to standing quickly, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. There may be extended periods of standing when facilitating or leading activities.

Compensation Package:

  • $50,000 to $96,051 annually, based on experience and qualifications. While the full range is available, most candidates can expect to fall within the $68,000 to $78,000 range, depending on relevant experience, skills, and education.
  • 10 paid holidays (including 2 floating holidays)
  • 15 sick days annually

Start date: August 1, 2025.
