Base pay range

$14.00/hr - $16.00/hr

Summary

The Associate/Lead Center Float is responsible for the care and safety of children Infants - 5 years old. The Associate/Lead Center Float responsibilities include covering in all classrooms during various times of the day which will include coverage for breaks, planning time, and provide support to the classroom teachers.

These shifts are full time. Shift times are between 7:00 am-12:00 pm OR 2:00 pm- 5:30 pm. Monday-Friday at our Exeter location. Please speak to the director about shift times and your availability.

The days are flexible, and the hours are 7:00 am-12:00 pm OR 2:00 pm- 5:30 pm

Duties

  • Implement classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
  • Lead by example; encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching.
  • Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive and emotional growth.
  • Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.
  • Ensure a healthy classroom environment including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
  • Supervise child care assistants and classroom volunteers to ensure they are following planned activities, hygiene and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records, forms and files.
  • Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.

Requirements

According to New Hampshire Child Care Program Licensing Rules, the Lead Teacher in a center based program shall have a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma, be at least 18 years of age, have a minimum of 1000 hours experience working with children in a licensed child care program, and meet one of the following pre-service training/education options:

  • A minimum of 18 credits in child development, early childhood, or elementary education, or other field of study focused on children from a regionally accredited college or university, including at least 3 credits in child growth and development; or
  • Documentation of a non-expired child development associates (CDA) in center based programs awarded by the council for professional recognition.
  • A credential from a teacher preparation program accredited by MACTE.
  • Documentation from or on file with the department that she/he was qualified for and employed in the position of Lead Teacher on or before the effective date of these rules in 2017.

Must have excellent communication skills, be flexible, energetic, be a team player and work well with young children.

According to New Hampshire Child Care Program Licensing Rules, an Associate Teacher in a center based program shall be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and have one of the following options:

  • Written documentation from or on file with the department that she or he was qualified and employed as an associate teacher on or before November 6, 2017.
  • A minimum of 9 credits in related coursework, including at least one 3 credit course in child or human growth and development;
  • Current certification as para II educator by the department of education; or
  • A minimum of 1000 hours of supervised child care experience in a licensed child care program, and knowledge of child growth and development obtained through one of the following:

a. Completion of a high school level 2-year career and technical education course in teacher education;

b. A 3 credit college course in child or human growth and development;

c. Thirty hours of training in child growth and development, granted by an accredited college or university, or an authorized provider of the International Association for Continuing Education and Training; or obtained through

d. documented life experience, including experience with the same age children the associate teacher supervises, such as a family child care provider, service as a foster parent, work as a school teacher, work as a camp counselor and experience as a group leader for children in sports or other activities, such as scouts or little league, or closely related experience.
