TITLE: EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENTAL SCREENER
Qualifications- MN licensure in Early Childhood teaching, preferred. Elementary teaching or registered nursing licensure, required.
- Strong public and human relations skills.
- An ability to work well with students, parents, and screening staff.
- Experience with the assessment of young children.
- Experience working effectively with culturally and ethnically diverse populations.
REPORTS TO: Early Learning Coordinator
JOB GOAL: To determine developmental needs for young children entering early education based programs, as required by the State of MN.
Performance Responsibilities- Provide assessments of a child's development, including fine and gross motor skills, speech and language, social-emotional, and cognitive skills using standardized instruments allowed by the Minnesota Department of Education and provided by the school district.
- Provide assessments of child's health; review child and family health history, measure weight and height, conduct vision and hearing screening.
- Participate in required screening training.
- Document assessment and screening results and discuss findings with parents during the summary interview.
- Determine referral status of child/family to district or community services as needed.
- Conduct screenings and summary conferences with the assistance of an interpreter/language line when the family's preferred language is other than English.
- Assist with State reporting.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Early Learning Coordinator or designee.
