Job summary

YM & YWHA of Washington Heights & Inwood seeks a part-time preschool counselor to join the classroom team, supporting learning and social development of young children.

You will work directly with students in learning centers, help with routines, and assist teachers to keep the classroom running smoothly. Hours are 8:00am–1:00pm or 1:00pm–5:00pm, Monday–Friday, at $18 per hour. This position emphasizes teamwork and childcare best practices.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The primary role of the counselor is to work in the preschool classroom to support learning and the social development of the children in the program. The job includes working directly with children within the learning centers of the classroom, helping to set up and clean-up activities and to support the teaching team to help children learn and grow.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

• Part-time position.
• Monday - Friday.
• Usual hours: 8:00am to 1:00pm OR 1:00 to 5:00 pm.

COMPENSATION:

• Pay rate at $18 per hour.

WORK AUTHORIZATION & CLEARANCES:

• Documentation of U.S. citizenship or eligibility to work in the U.S.
• Must pass the background check, medical form and fingerprinting through the Departments of Health and Education.
