Job summary

Desert Preschool Academy is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support curriculum implementation and work with children individually and in small groups. You will reinforce learning, promote safe routines, and maintain a developmentally appropriate classroom under supervision.

Responsibilities include supervising children, facilitating transitions, and documenting observations while maintaining communications with the Lead Teacher. Compliance with Title 5/22, CACFP, and safety codes is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least 6 CDE/ECE units from an accredited college or university.
• Infant Program requires 6 ECE/CD units in Infant/Toddler Development (if applicable).

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, clean, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
• Foster positive social-emotional development through supportive interactions.
• Provide active supervision and accurate child counts at all times.
• Assist with daily routines (transitions, meals, rest, outdoor play) to support independence.
• Communicate professionally with Lead Teacher and staff to implement lesson plans.
• Maintain confidential documentation including observations and attendance.
• Assist in preparing materials and maintaining classroom organization.
• Support inclusive practices for children with diverse abilities.
• Engage families and create a welcoming, culturally responsive classroom.
• Participate in professional development and required trainings.
• Follow health, hygiene, and safety protocols, including universal precautions.
• Maintain flexibility and assist with additional duties as needed.
