Job summary

The Salvation Army seeks a Teacher Aide to work under the supervision of the Group Teacher and Educational Director, supporting safety and the day-to-day classroom program in line with DOH and DOE regulations.

The role involves assisting in planning educational activities, maintaining records, coordinating with families, and supporting recruitment efforts to increase center enrollment. A high school diploma is required, with working towards a CDA preferred.

Qualifications

• Must meet the requirements set by the Department of Health (DOH), the Department of Education (DOE) and The Salvation Army.
• High school diploma and either have or be working towards a CDA.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children in accordance with DOH/DOE regulations to ensure safety and a well-functioning program.
• Plan and implement a classroom program addressing educational, social, developmental and health needs of the group and each child.
• Participate in discussions to set educational goals appropriate to each child’s age and development.
• Keep accurate and up-to-date written records on children’s progress according to policy.
• Share information about the children and program with parents/caregivers as approved.
• Maintain classroom furniture, equipment and materials in good condition.
• Collaborate with other staff on routine program duties.
• Maintain positive relationships with parents/caregivers and Salvation Army colleagues.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings and professional development.
• Assist in recruitment activities to increase enrollment in the centers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
