Job summary

Johnston County Public Schools in Selma, NC is seeking an EC Teacher Assistant (HQ) to support instruction and behavioral supervision in an elementary setting. Duties include group instruction, individualized support, preparing materials, monitoring student progress, and assisting with tests.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Highly Qualified Status via degree, 48 semester hours, or Pathways to TA Class with WorkKeys.
• Ability to work with children using effective instructional methods.
• Ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions and solve minor problems.

Responsibilities

• Gives group instruction as prescribed by teacher and provides individualized instruction.
• Checks and corrects students' work while in progress and keeps students on task.
• Reports student progress to teacher and assists with testing as needed.
• Prepares visual aids and duplicates materials; arranges classroom furnishings and equipment.
• Maintains records including attendance and health data; supports classroom discipline and policy.
