Responsible for delivering quality Early Childhood Education services in a multi-cultural program. This role includes recruitment, retention, supervision of a diverse staff, and managing budgets. Ensures maintenance of a safe and sanitary environment, compliance with DHS rule 3 licensing, and NAEYC accreditation. Also promotes and fosters relationships with partners and the community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Supervision of Staff:
- Interview, hire, orient, and supervise qualified, diverse staff, including scheduling and annual performance evaluations.
- Directly supervise the Assistant Director, Specialists, and Lead Teachers.
- Coach Lead Teachers in supervising Teachers, Assistant Teachers, Associate Teachers, and Teacher Aides.
- Recruit, hire, train, and coach direct reports; collaborate with Human Resources on staffing needs.
- Practice conflict resolution that respects differences, remains calm, and de-escalates issues. Work with HR to manage employee relations.
- Manage ongoing performance evaluations of employees.
- Maintain adequate classroom staffing to meet Licensing and NAEYC standards.
Ensure smooth operation of the ECE Center:
- Oversee enrollment, family communication, and involvement; facilitate tours, authorizations, and work with the nutrition manager to meet utilization goals.
- Supervise development and implementation of developmentally appropriate, anti-bias, multicultural curricula following the YWCA’s ELM Curriculum.
- Create classroom environments conducive to curriculum objectives.
- Oversee assessment and services for children with special needs.
- Ensure effective family communication, consultation, support, and involvement.
- Maintain the physical condition and maintenance of the center.
Handle overall site needs and record keeping:
- Maintain health, safety, licensing, USDA grants, and NAEYC accreditation standards and records.
- Develop, implement, and monitor center budgets.
- Coordinate with the ECE financial team to ensure current family authorizations and parent accounts.
- Participate in center, building, and agency teams.
- Understand and communicate the YWCA mission to children, staff, and families.
- Enforce organizational and departmental policies consistently and fairly.
