Job description

The Waldorf School of Pittsburgh (WSP) is accepting applications for Early Childhood Classroom Assistants for the 2025-2026 school year.

About

Established in 1993, Waldorf School of Pittsburgh is a mature Waldorf school serving about 200 students each year, committed to equity, and looking to diversify our staff. Our mission is to foster each child’s capacity to become an independent thinking, compassionate, courageous, and purposeful human being.

WSP offers a child care program, parent child program, Nursery and Kindergarten classes and 1st through 8th grade classes. We are a Member of WECAN and accredited through AWSNA and PAIS. We have a cohesive, strong faculty and administration, an active parent body, and a supportive Board of Trustees.

The Assistant Teacher works collaboratively with the Lead Teacher and other members of the Early Childhood Faculty/Staff to maintain the integrity and quality of WSP Early Childhood programs. The position includes plenty of outdoor time in all weather, domestic activities, the daily prepping and cooking of meals, singing, storytelling, and toileting. Programming is from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m., Monday-Friday and operates on an academic calendar. Some before and after school hours are required.

Qualifications

Candidates must possess a high school diploma and have two years of verifiable work with children or a B.A. in Education or a related field. Kindness, warmth, patience, and a genuine dedication to Waldorf Education are assets for this position.
