Job summary

HBMPAA is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support daily classroom operations, supervision, and learning activities for children. Under guidance of leadership, you will help implement lesson plans, maintain a safe and nurturing environment, and collaborate with staff to support child development.

The role emphasizes professionalism, reliability, and safeguarding the health, safety, and well-being of every child in care. Six ECE units and related permits are required.

Qualifications

• Must have completed six (6) semester units/credits in ECE or Child Development.
• Eligible to obtain the Assistant Teacher-level Child Development Permit per HBMPAA.
• Maintain required permits, education, and trainings for the position.
• Maintain CPR/First Aid and Mandated Reporter training as required.
• Meet background clearance, health screening, immunization, and licensing requirements.
• Infant/Toddler coursework required before related responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with developmentally appropriate classroom activities and routines.
• Prepare instructional materials and learning centers.
• Support implementation of lesson plans and schedules.
• Encourage participation, exploration, communication, and creativity.
• Maintain active supervision and adhere to safety procedures.
• Support safe transitions between activities and routines.
• Report safety hazards, injuries, or concerns per policy.
• Follow classroom procedures and health/sanitation rules.
• Keep classroom clean, organized, and well maintained.
• Assist with cleaning and sanitizing materials and areas.
• Maintain confidentiality of children and families.
