Job summary

Nationwide Children's Hospital Inc. seeks an Assistant Teacher for the Main Campus in Columbus, OH. The role designs and implements age-appropriate curriculum and supervises students, volunteers, and part-time staff to maintain a safe, healthy classroom.

Responsibilities include collaborating with families, managing records, and supporting early childhood education growth. A high school diploma is required; a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood is preferred, with CDA or two-year cert encouraged.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood or related field preferred.
• Two-year certification in early child development or CDA credential preferred.
• Working knowledge of State Licensing regulations, SUTQ, and Center policies.
• Excellent communication skills; ability to supervise and direct part-time staff and volunteers.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates in curriculum planning based on child development observations to provide a safe environment.
• Welcomes children and families; assists in arranging parent/teacher conferences.
• Supervises and delegates classroom responsibilities to part-time assistants, volunteers, and student teachers.
• Maintains cleanliness and order in the classroom and attends to routines.
• Monitors children and reports unusual symptoms to parents or administrator.
• Maintains attendance, meal counts, conference reports, and other required classroom records.
• Assists in using Center materials and resources; participates in community workshops.
