Job summary

The Thames Valley Council for Community Action is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support the care, supervision, and safety of classroom children and assist in implementing age-appropriate curriculum. The role emphasizes compassion, teamwork, and maintaining a clean, safe learning environment, while partnering with staff and families to support all backgrounds.

Qualifications

Valid CDA with 12 ECE credits.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in ECE or related field with 12 ECE credits.
Enrollment in a program leading to an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in ECE or related field with 12 ECE credits to be completed within three years.
Enrollment in a CDA credential program and 12 ECE credits to be completed within two years.
Reliable, insured transportation.
CT child care first-aid, child CPR, and medication administration certification (or obtain and maintain).
TVCCA Statement of Good Health signed within 12 months and every 36 months for current staff.
Ability to interact with children for up to 8 hours; flexible hours.

Responsibilities

Care, supervision, and safety of classroom children.
Assist staff in planning and implementing age-appropriate curriculum.
Maintain classroom and playground safety, cleanliness, and orderliness.
Support health, safety, and nutritional education within curriculum planning.
Assist in classroom operations in the absence of the Head Teacher.
Attend staff and parent meetings and participate in professional development.
Input observations, prepare lesson plans, and maintain records.
Work as part of a team and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
