Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Childcare Assistant to join a community-focused centre in Upington. You will support lead teachers, help supervise children, maintain a safe and stimulating classroom, and communicate progress with families.

This role is ideal for someone with a passion for early childhood education and a patient, nurturing demeanor. Applicants with a high school diploma and childcare training are preferred; prior childcare experience is advantageous.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant childcare training or certifications are a plus.
• Previous experience in a childcare setting or working with children is advantageous.
• A genuine love for children and a patient, nurturing demeanor.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead teachers in planning and implementing daily activities for children.
• Supervise children during playtime, meals, and rest periods, ensuring their safety and engagement.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and child-friendly classroom environment.
• Provide support to individual children as needed, fostering their social and emotional development.
• Communicate with lead teachers and parents about children's activities and progress.
