Job summary

Peralta Community College District seeks an early childhood assistant to support the educational program for children from two months to five years old. You will participate in curriculum planning, implement age-appropriate activities, and help maintain a safe classroom and playground environment.

Under supervision, you will also engage in in-service trainings, contribute to documentation, and collaborate with staff to support diverse learners and families within the college community.

Qualifications

• Understanding of early childhood education for infants to five years.
• Knowledge of child growth, development, and learning environments.
• Ability to implement developmentally appropriate activities and assess progress.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing educational experiences for children aged 2 months to 5 years.
• Develop curriculum plans and select instructional materials for group activities.
• Provide age-appropriate language arts, social studies, cognitive arts, and physical development activities.
• Attend in-service trainings and participate in planning sessions with staff.
• Ensure safety precautions are followed and supervise children in class and on the playground.
• Maintain accurate records and complete required state and center paperwork.
