Job summary

Acquire4Hire is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support educators and the director in creating a caring, safe classroom environment. You will help implement activities, observe children's progress, and communicate with parents. The role emphasizes teamwork, strong communication, and adherence to center policies.

Shifts run Monday–Friday, 7am–5:30pm. The position requires at least 1 year in group childcare, physical stamina, and the ability to engage with children and peers effectively.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1+ years experience in a group childcare setting
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Ability to multitask and manage several tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds and get down on the floor as needed
  • Must pass a full background check and health screening
  • CPR and First Aid certification (willingness to obtain)
  • Willingness to obtain a Food Handler's card

  • Assist in implementing curricula activities and encourage participation by children.
  • Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, order, and availability of classroom materials.
  • Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions and progress reports.
  • Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
  • Help ensure smooth, daily transitions from home to child care center.
  • Follow all center policies and state regulations.
  • Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.

About This Role

The Assistant Teacher supports the Teachers and the Director by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. S/he must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. Assisting the staff in implementing a quality educational program and in developing positive relationships with the children and their parents, the assistant teacher observes and documents children's interest and progress, and relays that information back to parents and staff. Assistant teachers are responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children's interests and needs under the direction of the Teacher and the Director.

Must be available to work Monday through Friday, varying shifts, 7am to 5:30pm.

Requirements


  • Minimum of 1+ years experience in a group childcare setting

  • Ability to lift 30 pounds

  • Ability to get down on the floor

  • Ability to work well with others.

  • Must take personal initiative and be able to multitask.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.

  • A strong understanding of child development.

  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Infant/child hands-on CPR and First Aid certification (willingness to obtain one prior to hire)

  • Pass a TB test (negative result) prior to hire

  • Must clear full background check.

  • Must pass health screening.

  • Willingness to obtain a Food Handler's card prior to hire
