Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC) invites you to join its early careers internship in Finance Data & Analytics. This ten-week program can be based in Chicago, IL or Richardson, TX, offering hands-on project work and mentoring from experienced analysts.

You will support development, testing, and maintenance of data solutions, gain exposure to BI, SQL, and data tools, and deliver a final presentation to leadership while upholding HIPAA and corporate standards.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a technical field with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Ability to collect, clean and prep uncomplicated data and describe data.
• Familiar with BI, DB platforms or other data toolsets and basic SQL.

The ideal finance data and analytics developer intern candidate will understand one or more programming languages and be able to supports divisional data solutions while also following corporate policies and standards. In this role you may be asked to Initiate and monitor timely defect resolution for production and operational readiness, manage deadlines and work efforts within a timely manner, recommend process improvements and communicate effectively with the team and management.This role will also need to:* Own components of project work and deliverables with guidance from an assigned mentor and manager.* Conduct research, analyze data and information, and develop recommendations that inform real business decisions.* Collaborate with cross-functional teams.* Support departmental initiatives that improve business outcomes and the member and client experience.* Develop and deliver a final internship presentation to department leadership covering the project, results, and recommendations.* Maintain complete confidentiality of company business and comply with HIPAA, Diversity Principles, Corporate Integrity, and applicable compliance policies.**What Do You Need to Be Successful?*** Ability to collect, clean & prep uncomplicated data* Understanding of straightforward data structures* Ability to describe data and understand reasonability checking* Ability to work with change coordinators to implement changes and new solutions* Knowledge of entry level abilities on data tech (BI, DB Platforms, or other types of data toolsets)* Ability to work in a team environment.* Previous internship experience preferred.* Demonstrated interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication.* Strong analytical skills* Practical, developed PC skills, especially Excel, Word, and Access, basic SQL**What Are the Requirements You Must Meet?*** Pursuing a bachelor’s degree; rising senior with a major in computer science, computer information science, or management information systems.
