Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, a 100% employee-owned firm, is seeking a civil engineer with 6–10 years of water and wastewater pipeline design experience for our San Antonio office. You will design projects, coordinate with disciplines, and prepare construction cost estimates under limited supervision.

Ideal candidates hold a Texas PE or reciprocity within 1 year and possess strong communication skills, proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation, ArcGIS, and MS Project.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 6–10 years of civil engineering experience; water/wastewater pipeline design.
• Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation.
• Professional Engineer license in Texas or reciprocity within 1 year of hire.
• Experience with ArcGIS and MS Project.

Responsibilities

• Analyze project requirements and information to develop accurate reports for submittal.
• Plan projects using survey data, maps, drawings, and geologic data.
• Design projects per client specs using design software and drawing tools.
• Develop or review construction cost estimates.
• Prepare contract plans, specs, and cost estimates for advertisement and construction.
• Attend client meetings and take minutes.
• Coordinate with disciplines and ensure design scope alignment.
• Perform quality review of designs per PM Plan.
• Provide technical oversight and guidance within the department.
