Job Description

Join the legal frontline and champion the defense for both the insured and the Company! As an early career Trial Attorney, you'll handle no-fault bodily injury, property damage lawsuits, and more, with opportunities for trials, arbitrations, and mediations. Beyond the courtroom, you'll provide vital counsel to business clients and coordinate between legal teams. Stay ahead of legal developments by monitoring new laws and regulations, ensuring our strategies remain sharp. Embrace the challenges and victories in this dynamic role!

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage all aspects of insurance defense litigation from case inception to verdict, including case assessment, discovery, depositions, motions, negotiations, courtroom advocacy, and post-trial motions.
  2. Gather and organize documents, evidence, and legal research for cases, including preparation for hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions.
  3. Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents; prepare summaries and reports.
  4. Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and legal documents.
  5. Interview clients and witnesses; draft summaries of statements and maintain communication records.
  6. Attend court hearings, depositions, and legal proceedings; may represent the company or clients in routine matters.
  7. Monitor changes in laws and regulations; update the legal team on potential impacts.
  8. Participate in training and mentorship programs to develop legal skills and gain exposure to complex legal work.
Education
  • Juris Doctorate and active membership in good standing with the Virginia State Bar.
Minimum Requirements
  • 0–3 years of related experience.
  • Successful completion of courses in legal research, writing, and analysis.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Ability to organize case files and manage legal documents.
  • Effective communication with clients and record-keeping skills.
  • Knowledge of legal ethics and professional conduct.
  • Negotiation skills for client interactions and settlement discussions.
  • Must be within commuting distance to courthouses throughout Northern Virginia.
