Job Description

Join the legal frontline and champion the defense for both the insured and the Company! As an early career Trial Attorney, you'll handle no-fault, bodily injury, property damage lawsuits, and more, with exciting trials, arbitrations, and mediations. Beyond the courtroom, you'll provide vital counsel to business clients and coordinate between legal teams. Stay ahead of the game by monitoring new laws and regulations, ensuring our strategies remain sharp. Embrace the challenges and victories in this dynamic role!

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage all aspects of insurance defense litigation from case inception to verdict, including assessment, discovery, depositions, motions, negotiations, courtroom advocacy, and post-trial motions.
  2. Gather and organize documents, evidence, and legal research for cases, preparing for hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions.
  3. Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents; prepare summaries and reports.
  4. Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other legal documents.
  5. Interview clients and witnesses, draft summaries of statements, and maintain communication records.
  6. Attend court proceedings to observe and assist; may represent the company or clients in routine matters.
  7. Monitor legal and regulatory changes, updating the legal team on potential impacts.
  8. Participate in training and mentorship to develop legal skills and handle complex legal work.
Education
  • Juris Doctorate and active membership in good standing with the New York State Bar.
Minimum Requirements
  • 1-4 years of licensed Attorney experience.
  • Successful completion of courses in legal research, writing, and analysis.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Organizational skills for case files and legal documents.
  • Effective communication skills with clients and team members.
  • Knowledge of legal ethics and professional standards.
  • Negotiation skills for client interactions and settlements.
  • Must be within commuting distance to courthouses in the greater New York area.
