Job summary

WSP is seeking an Early Career Structural Engineer for its New York office. You will engage in structural design of buildings across the United States and learn through advanced training with a global network.

The role emphasizes collaboration, attention to detail, and the use of BIM tools like Revit. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in structural or civil engineering and up to 1 year of related experience. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • 0–1 years of relevant post-education experience.
  • Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
  • Familiarity with design/build processes and concepts.
  • Knowledge of structural/civil construction codes, regulations, and record-keeping.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
  • Ability to self-lead with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team to meet objectives.
  • Experience with BIM software, such as Autodesk Revit.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural design of new buildings and restoration of existing buildings throughout the United States.
  • Analyze and design superstructures and foundations in timber, concrete, steel, and masonry.
  • Utilize latest technology and digital design tools for design.

WSP is currently initiating a search for an Early Career Structural Engineer for our New York, NYoffice. Your Impact


  • Perform structural design of new buildings and restoration of existing buildings throughout the United States

  • Analyze and design superstructures and foundations in timber, concrete, steel, and masonry.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.

  • 0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience

  • Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.

  • Familiarity with process and concepts for design/build.

  • Familiarity with relevant structural and civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.

  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.

  • Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.

  • Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.

  • Experience with Building Information Modeling software, such as Autodesk Revit

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
    Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Upcoming December 2025/May 2026 Graduate in an accredited Civil/Architectural/Structural Engineering, or related, Undergraduate or Graduate program.

  • Masters Degree in Structural Engineering is preferred

  • The successful candidate will have 0-3 years of internship experience in Civil/Architectural/Structural Engineering.

  • Experience using Revit, AutoCAD and/or Microstation software.

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $56,300-92,840


WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
