You will contribute to transportation, municipal, water resources, and land development projects, assisting engineers and PMs in design, drafting, and field observations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited) is required or preferred.
• EIT certification is preferred for advancement.
• Course work and/or 0 to 2 years’ experience may include relevant subspecialties such as transportation, water resources, or land development.

Responsibilities

• Work with Project Manager(s) and Project Engineer(s) in design/drafting capacity.
• Perform basic calculations and assist in plan development.
• Conduct on-site construction observation of work in progress.
• Prepare plans and profile drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Review project design manuals for specifications and requirements.
• Assist in preparing drainage, stormwater, erosion control, and reports for permits.

Job description

We are proactively seeking upcoming 2027 Civil Engineering graduates! At HRG, we pride ourselves on being an employee-owned, nationally recognized consulting engineering, planning, and infrastructure solutions firm.

We are seeking multiple Early Career Staff Engineers | Civil to join our dedicated team of professionals at our Harrisburg, PA office. You will focus on Transportation Engineering (Traffic, Highway & Bridge), Municipal & Water Resources, Water & Wastewater Engineering, or Land Development & Site Design.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Working closely with Project Manager(s) and Project Engineer(s) in design/drafting capacity
• Performing basic calculations
• Conducting on-site construction observation of work in progress
• Preparing plans and profile drawings utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Reviewing project design manual(s) for specification requirements
• Assisting in preparation of drainage, stormwater management, erosion and sedimentation control, and other reports required for project permits and approvals

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (or related field), preferably from an ABET-accredited program
• E.I.T. certification preferred
• Course work and/or 0 to 2 years’ experience may include:
• Subdivision
• Municipal Engineering
• Stormwater Management
• Water Distribution and Treatment Systems
• Wastewater Collection, Conveyance, and Treatment Systems Processes
• Hydraulics
• On-Lot Systems
• Environmental Assessment
• Traffic Signalization
• Traffic studies and analyses
• Intersection improvements
• Parking Facilities, Highway, and Roadway Safety Design
• AutoCAD Civil 3D experience/knowledge is a plus
• Previous internship with a consulting engineering firm preferred
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Team player possessing strong communication, planning, and organizational skills
• Flexibility to travel to job sites, meetings, and other offices as necessary, which may include overnight stays
• Valid US Driver’s License is required
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
