Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico seeks an Early Career R&D Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and deploy embedded software for national security programs. You will work on FPGA-aware software, object-oriented frameworks, and distributed architectures in a collaborative, onsite environment.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's in a relevant field, strong C/C++, Python skills, and experience with embedded OS (Ubuntu/Green Hills).

Qualifications

The Resilient Embedded Systems department (5327) is seeking a motivated embedded software engineer to support large multi-disciplinary programs critical to national security. The successful candidate will support the design, development, test, and deployment of novel embedded software solutions. The successful candidate will have a background and understanding of embedded software and systems, FPGAs, and a readiness to apply this understanding to a variety of hardware systems.

You will work alongside world-class authorities and emerging leaders and use your skills in the following areas:

Embedded software

Debugging alongside electrical engineers

Object-oriented software frameworks and architecture development

Networked and distributed architectures

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant will be required to work onsite.

Salary Range:

$102,400 - $199,700

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development

Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

The ideal R&D S&E Computer Science candidate will in addition possess the following:

Graduate degree in Computer Science or a highly related field where an independent research project was a graduation requirement (e.g., independent project, thesis, or dissertation).

Demonstrated software development skills and familiarity with modern software development practices and tools (e.g., Agile).

Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, and a passion to improve and expand technical skills.

Also for this posting we are seeking individuals with the following experience:

An advanced degree (Masters or Ph.D.) in computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or relevant field; or a Bachelor's degree in field above with at least 4 years of relevant experience

Experience developing and deploying embedded software

Experience targeting embedded processors in SOCs (system on chip)

Experience with embedded OS (Ubuntu, GreenHills, etc)

Demonstrated ability using revisions control and bug tracking tools (Jira, Gitlab, Git)

Demonstrated experience with C, C++ and Python

Familiarity with guidance, navigation, and control algorithms

Testing and debugging software systems

Experience with large distributed command, control, and data processing systems

Experience developing test plans to verify and validate high-rigor designs

Interest in leading multidisciplinary technical teams

About Our Team:

Organization 5327, the Resilient Embedded Systems department focuses on the development of secure and resilient computing solutions critical for national security.

Posting Duration:
