Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico seeks a Research and Development Mechanical Engineer to join the System-Level Vibration Testing Lab. You will apply engineering judgment to plan and conduct work spanning research, development, and application for Sandia customers and sponsors.

Responsibilities include conceiving tests, advancing structural dynamics knowledge, and collaborating across multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with ability to perform independent R&D.
• Experience with structural dynamics and vibration testing methods.
• Experience with data acquisition systems and scripting in Python/MATLAB.

Responsibilities

• Conceive, plan, and conduct technical work spanning fundamental research to application for Sandia customers.
• Advance the field through collaboration and presenting work at conferences and journals.
• Perform structural dynamics testing on projects including weapon systems, aerospace structures, and civil structures.
• Develop and implement new solutions to group procedures and improve tests.
