Job summary

Stoke Space is seeking a Mechanical/Engineering role to contribute to the Nova program, designing, building, and testing mechanical hardware from concept to production. You will create CAD models, drawings, prototypes, and production-ready designs while collaborating with manufacturing and engineering teams.

The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in mechanics and materials, hands-on hardware experience, and strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
• Strong foundation in mechanics, materials, and basic mechanical design.
• Experience designing, building, modifying, or testing mechanical hardware.
• Experience using 3D CAD software through coursework, internships, teams, or personal projects.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and iterate on mechanical hardware for Nova.
• Turn concepts into physical hardware with CAD models, drawings, prototypes, and production-ready designs.
• Own components or projects from concept through design, fabrication, assembly, and testing.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams, technicians, and engineers to fabricate and improve hardware.
• Hands-on hardware work during assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and modification.
• Investigate hardware problems, identify root causes, and develop practical solutions.
• Make design decisions balancing performance, manufacturability, reliability, cost, and schedule.
• Use test results to inform design decisions and rapidly improve designs.
• Collaborate across disciplines to solve complex problems and integrate mechanical systems.
• Document designs, test results, and engineering decisions clearly.
