Join our team as an Early Career Fire and Life Safety Engineer - Buildings at WSP in the U.S.

Job Description

This Opportunity

We are seeking passionate individuals of diverse backgrounds to join our Fire and Life Safety (FLS) team across various U.S. offices, including Arlington, Boston, Columbia, Dallas, Houston, and New York. This role involves supporting the design, development, and inspection of fire safety systems on building projects in both public and private sectors.

Your responsibilities will include assisting with research, design, and analysis of fire protection systems such as sprinklers, alarms, and smoke control, as well as performing code compliance reviews and fire modeling analyses.

Responsibilities
  • Research building, life safety, and fire codes (ICC, NFPA, IBC, NFPA 101).
  • Assist in designing fire protection and life safety systems.
  • Prepare fire engineering calculations and perform smoke and evacuation modeling.
  • Support commissioning of fire safety systems.
  • Review architectural drawings for code compliance.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Adhere to ethical standards and company policies.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fire Protection or Mechanical Engineering (with fire focus).
  • 0-1 year of relevant experience.
  • Strong research, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency in technical writing and basic software tools.

Preferred:

  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Knowledge of REVIT and AutoCAD.
  • Experience or internships in fire protection engineering.
