Job summary

WSP in the U.S. is seeking an entry-level Environmental Technician to support field surveys and data collection across environmental science projects in the Phoenix area.

You will collect air, soil, and water samples, assist with analyses, and help prepare documentation using digital notebooks and systems. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and strict adherence to environmental regulations and company policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Natural Resource Management, Geology, Engineering, or a related life sciences field.
  • Analytical skills, familiarity with research techniques, local/regional ecology and habitats, and applicable species/discipline.
  • Familiar with environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for scientific and non-scientific audiences.
  • Self-leadership, attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with business writing, office automation and communication software.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with health and safety policies.
  • Flexibility to travel to project sites as required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field surveys collecting observational, spatial, and environmental data under general supervision.
  • Collect and compile samples of air, soil, water, and other matrices for analysis.
  • Maintain quality control standards for accurate measurement and documentation.
  • Assist with basic environmental science work relating to ecological systems, air, and water resources.
  • Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and field/work site notebook.
  • Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures including logbooks and data records.
  • Utilize the latest technologies and techniques in habitat studies and impacts assessments.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
