Job description

ATC is seeking a highly motivated Early-Career Embedded Software Engineer to join our Advanced Solutions Group. This team develops innovative sensing, signal processing and embedded computing systems for space, airborne and terrestrial applications.

Whether you're a recent graduate, have internship experience, or are early in your engineering career, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers while contributing to the development of advanced, real-time systems with real-world impact.

In this role, you will help design, develop, integrate, and test embedded software for processors ranging from microcontrollers to advanced System-on-Chip (SoC) platforms. You'll gain hands‑on experience across the entire product lifecycle - from concept and development through testing, production, and deployment.

What You'll Do

As part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will:

  • Design, develop, and test embedded software in C/C++
  • Support the integration and verification of hardware and software systems
  • Participate in system debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
  • Support products through development, production, testing, and operational deployment
  • Learn industry best practices for developing reliable software for mission-critical applications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Recent graduate or up to 2 years of relevant experience
  • Familiarity with C/C++ programming through coursework, internships, research projects, or professional experience
  • Exposure to embedded systems, microcontrollers, or Linux development environments
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and willingness to learn new technologies
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
Preferred / Desired Experience

Experience with one or more of the following is a plus:

  • Embedded Linux development
  • ARM-based processors or microcontrollers
  • GNU development tools
  • Real‑time software development
  • Test development and data manipulation using Python
  • git or similar software configuration management (CM) tools
  • Embedded build systems (e.g. yocto, buildroot)
  • Debugging tools such as GDB, JTAG, or logic analyzers
  • Senior design projects, internships, research experience, or personal embedded systems projects
Eligibility Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen eligible to obtain a Top-Secret U.S. Government security clearance
Why ATC?

At ATC, you'll work on challenging engineering problems that support advanced sensing and processing systems for space and terrestrial applications. We invest in developing early-career engineers through mentorship, hands‑on experience, and close collaboration with experienced technical leaders.

This is an opportunity to build your skills, contribute to exciting technology programs, and grow your career while helping develop systems that operate in some of the world's most demanding environments.
