WSP is seeking an Entry Career Civil Engineer to join the Power Delivery Overhead Transmission Line Department in Milwaukee, WI, starting June 2027. You will contribute to design for new lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber optic additions, gaining hands-on experience in a growing practice.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist with basic professional civil engineering work on site conditions, permits, and standards conformity.
  • Provide entry-level technical support on design requirements and operating strategies for safety and usability.
  • Verify site characteristics and provide technical input on engineering and construction issues.
  • Generate complete, accurate documentation using electronic systems and field logs.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and site procedures, including data collection and surveys.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Act responsibly with company funds and resources and follow the Code of Conduct.

Job description

WSP is currently seeking an Entry Career Civil Engineer to work in the Power Delivery Overhead Transmission Line Department in Milwakee, WI starting in June 2027. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of transmission line design for new lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber optic additions.

Candidates must be willing and able to work effectively and efficiently in a hybrid work environment (i.e., remote, office-based, or a combination of the two).

Your Impact
  • Assist with performing basic professional civil engineering work relating to conducting research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, resources, building, infrastructure, and transportation channels to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.
  • Perform routine engineering functions and provide entry-level technical assistance on various design requirements, operating strategies to account for the safety and functionality of end-users, systems, and infrastructure.
  • Assist with verifying the characteristics of a site and providing basic technical assistance on various engineering, design, and construction issues.
  • Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems, drawings, and field/work site notebook/logs.
  • Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but are not limited to, location data, statistical documentation, engineering studies and surveys, and construction.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • BSCE (Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering) or related degree from an ABET-accredited university
  • The candidate must have a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite
  • Must be able to work in the US without the need for work sponsorship
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Minimum of a 2.75 GPA
  • Ideal coursework includes structural analysis, concrete, steel, soils, foundations, and surveying.
  • Previous engineering design or drafting work experience, especially if related to civil and/or structural engineering, is desirable.
  • A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.
