Job summary

The Merc Co+op in Lawrence, KS is seeking entry-level Grocer Cooperators for hourly on-site work. You will assist customers, operate cash registers, help with receiving and stocking, and maintain a clean, safe store area.

Responsibilities include following safety procedures, supporting staff training, and learning cooperative ownership practices. Weekends and holidays may be required, with opportunities for growth and seasonal promotions.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with department specialists to execute daily tasks within the department including opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned.
• Provide exceptional, prompt, and friendly service in person and over the phone.
• Comply with safety procedures and report safety risks to store management.
• Support training of new staff by modeling best practices and procedures.
• Assist with ordering, inventory, and other duties as assigned.
• Gain knowledge of cooperative ownership and business model practices.
• Know products sold and respond to questions with suggestions.
• Stay current with promotions and ads.
• Willing to work weekends and holidays.
• Report to work as scheduled and on time.
• Operate register and follow cash handling guidelines.
• Assist with receiving, stocking and inventory rotation; merchandise and prep.
