Job summary

Leonardo S.p.A. in Philadelphia seeks an Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) US Technical Leader to drive certification programs and system-level integration.

You will lead the US team, coordinate with FAA representatives and DERs, and partner with LHUSC to deliver tiltrotor AW609 initiatives while pursuing new business opportunities.

This senior role requires deep E3 expertise, program management, and strong communication to align engineering activities with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Master in Engineering; PhD considered a plus.
  • Five+ years of experience participating in transport-category certification programs (Part25 or Part29).
  • Five+ years of technical experience and responsibility of teams involved in design, development, test and analysis of electro-avionics systems in the frame of Electromagnetic Environmental Effect discipline: Intrasystem-EMC, HIRF, Direct and Indirect Effect of Lightning
  • 1 years+ of experience performing Project Management duties.
  • Strong understanding electro-avionic systems and systems testing to show compliance to system and certification requirements applicable to the E3 Technical Discipline (i.e. 14 CFR 29.1316, 29.1317, 29.1309, 29.1327, 29.1431, 29.610).
  • Understanding and proven experience on manage suppliers in the electro-avionic equipment qualification activities as per RTCA DO-160 (Section 15-17-18-19-20-21-22-23-25).
  • Understanding and proven experience of compliance demonstration process at Aircraft System Level as per SAE ARP5583A (HIRF), SAE ARP60493 (EMC), SAE ARP5415B (IEL)
  • Practical experience with FAA certification processes.
  • Proven experience to create plans, communicate them, and execute them efficiently across a diverse and complex organization. EVMS experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to negotiate solutions and persuade stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure integration, qualification and certification at system level; manage integrated system-level activities and FAA-related tasks.
  • Define statements of work (SOWs), develop local technical capabilities and execute design activities in alignment with Technical Area.
  • Accountable for technical certification activities and to show design compliance to the FAA; coordinate with FAA and DER.
  • Support planning and execution of demonstrations of compliance across product lines.
  • Coordinate and manage day-to-day operations of the US Team.
  • Develop US team through performance evaluations, career growth, and recruiting.
  • Oversee EVMS plans, budget development, and certification milestones; manage external off-load.
