Job summary

Highgate Hotels is seeking a Barback for E11EVEN Club Hotel & Residences in Miami. You will support the bar team by preparing mixers, stocking supplies, and maintaining a clean, fast-paced outlet to ensure smooth service.

Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent education required.

  • Knowledge of beers, wines, cocktails, and liquors.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Observant, thorough, responsible, and punctual.
  • Ability to meet physical and scheduling demands including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare mixers, cut fruit, receive requisitions, check par levels, refill mixers, get ice, run food, and dispose of garbage.
  • Set up and break down the bar, and assist with opening and closing duties.
  • Ensure the bar is well-stocked with ice, liquor, wine, and beer, restock garnishes, straws, and napkins.
  • Keep the bar and outlet clean by wiping surfaces, sweeping and mopping, cleaning glassware and mirrors, and removing trash.
  • Maintain records and report levels of usage to aid reordering and proper storage of delivered items.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Overview

The Barback ensures that the bar at E11EVEN Club Hotel & Residences is set and maintained so that the bar staff has everything it needs to run an effective operation, including maintaining the cleanliness of the outlet, running food, and setting up and breaking down the bar. The Barback must be knowledgeable about menu items, attentive, and focused on providing the best possible service in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare mixers, cut fruit, receive requisitions, check par levels, refill mixers, get ice, run food, and collect and dispose of garbage.
  • Set up and break down the bar, and assist with opening and closing duties.
  • Ensure the bar is well-stocked with ice, liquor, wine, and beer, and restock garnishes, straws, and napkins, ensuring Bartenders have clean towels, glassware, and supplies.
  • Keep the bar and outlet clean by wiping down surfaces, sweeping and mopping, polishing brass and steel, cleaning glassware and mirrors, removing soiled glassware, scrubbing coolers and storage areas, and emptying trash receptacles.
  • Maintain records and report levels of usage to assist in the reordering process, and ensure delivered items are stored properly.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • High school or equivalent education required.
  • One to two (1-2) years of bar experience or equivalent.
  • Must be the minimum age to serve alcohol.
  • Courteous, friendly personality and professional appearance.
  • Knowledge of menu items, including beers, wines, cocktails, and liquors.

  • Strong problem‑solving, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle tense situations with coworkers and guests calmly and rationally.

  • Ability to meet the physical and scheduling demands of the position, including walking, standing, or lifting heavy items for extended periods and working nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service
  • 6 days or 48 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year, accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.

For Employees Based in California:

  • 8 paid holidays per year
  • Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service, capped at 1.5x annual accrual rate; non-supervisory employees working in the City of Los Angeles accrue up to 22 days of Compensated Time Off, based on length of service capped at 192 hours of combined PST and CTO.
  • Paid Sick Time accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, unused time is carried over from one anniversary year to the next up to a maximum of 80 hours; employees working in the City of Los Angeles are provided 40 hours of Paid Sick Time annually on their anniversary, unused time is not carried over from one anniversary year to the next.
