Job summary

Arch Insurance Group is offering a summer internship in New York City designed for students pursuing risk management and insurance. The program provides hands-on underwriting exposure across manufacturing, warehousing, public entities, healthcare, education, and real estate programs; interns will evaluate submissions and learn about quotes and binders.

You will work a hybrid schedule (3 days onsite, 2 days remote) in NYC, earning about $26 per hour, with relocation not provided.

Qualifications

• Actively completing area of study in Risk Management and Insurance or related program.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA or higher.
• College level – current Junior or Senior student, with graduation dates ranging from December 2027 - May 2028.
• Strong proficiency in understanding financial statements.
• Exemplary written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
• Entrepreneurial spirit along with the desire to be a continuous learner.
• Team player who collaborates effectively.
• Self-starter who can work independently and deal effectively with multiple tasks/priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in underwriting specialized sectors such as manufacturing, warehousing, public entities, healthcare, education, and real estate programs.
• Support the wholesale distribution network by evaluating various types of accounts, including earthquake, hurricane, tornado, hail, flood, and wildfire exposures.
• Manage incoming broker submissions and ensure completeness and accuracy of data.
• Research and share new business opportunities through submission analysis and market trends.
• Review policy construction and support documentation for quotes and binders.
• Maintain organized records of broker interactions, quotes, and bound policies.

Location & Work Arrangement

The program dates are June 2, 2027 – August 6, 2027. This position is classified as a hybrid position. You will work 3 days onsite and 2 days from home. This position is located in New York City, NY. Relocation and housing assistance is not provided for this role.

Pay

For individuals assigned to or hired to work in New York City, the hourly rate is $26 as of the time of posting. The breadth in the range exists to accommodate students in specialized programs such as actuarial candidates and graduate students. Any actual rate offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, along with the education & qualifications of the candidate. The above range may be modified in the future. Intern position is eligible for select Arch benefits.
