Job summary

Great American Risk Solutions, a division of Great American Insurance, seeks a Production Underwriter to join the E&S Construction team. This hybrid role combines on-site collaboration with one remote day, and includes ongoing professional development and market strategy participation.

You will evaluate new and renewal business, analyze risk information, and maintain strong relationships with brokers to promote profitable growth. Travel ~10% is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 1–5 years of related insurance experience.
• Completion of or ongoing progress toward a professional designation preferred.
• Ability to travel around 10% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal business per guidelines and risk appetite.
• Analyze risk information to set coverage, pricing, and terms.
• Collaborate with actuaries, agents, brokers, and clients for necessary details.
• Order reports (motor vehicle, loss history, inspections) to inform decisions.

Great American Risk Solutions Division is currently looking for a Production Underwriter to join their E&S Construction team. Great American's culture is built on connection, shared learning, and strong relationships. To support this, employees in this role are expected to be on-site four days a week, with the flexibility to work one day remotely. Core in-office days are Tuesday-Thursday, with the fourth day determined by business needs.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

• Evaluates and underwrites new and renewal business in accordance with Company underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.
• Analyzes risk information to make informed decisions on coverage, pricing, and terms.
• Collaborates with actuaries, agents, brokers, and clients to obtain necessary information and clarify details.
• Orders additional reports and screens, such as motor vehicle reports, loss history reports, outside inspections, etc., to inform decisions.
• Ensures proper documentation of underwriting decisions and compliance with state and federal insurance regulations.
• Evaluates existing policies for potential renewal or modification.
• Communicates underwriting decisions clearly and effectively to internal teams, agents, and brokers.
• Stays updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions.
• Develops and maintains effective business relationships with internal and external customers/coworkers in order to attract and retain profitable business.
• Interprets, explains, and markets products and services.
• Develops and executes marketing strategies to promote the Company's products to brokers and agents.
• Monitors market trends and competition to identify opportunities for product enhancements and marketing strategies.
• Organizes and participates in marketing initiatives, including presentations, industry events, and broker/agent meetings to showcase products and services.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
• Generally, 1-5 years of related insurance experience.
• Completion of or continuing progress toward a professional designation preferred.
• Ability to travel around 10% of the time.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail. Strong negotiation and decision-making ability.
