The role of the ER technician requires partnering with the healthcare team (Registered Nurse, Provider, Mid-level Provider,) to provide a high level of exceptional care and critical thinking skills. Under the direction of the RN the ER technician provides functions that are direct and indirect care. The ER technician also assists the team in the management of our behavioral health population and will provide one to one observation as needed. The ER technician participates in care of patients requiring additional infection control protection such as the Ebola Virus. The ER technician plays an integral role in the department's quality metrics such as turnaround times for blood collection, length of stay and throughput.
