Job summary

Piedmont Healthcare is seeking a professional coder to review, analyze, and code medical records with precision, focusing on ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes. You will abstract demographic data, verify medical necessity, and audit orders to minimize denials.

You will provide technical guidance to physicians and staff and primarily handle E/M coding for office settings, with additional ancillary services as needed. GED and a coding certificate are required/preferred.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required.
• Coding Certificate program (AAPC accredited) is Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reviews, analyzes, and codes medical record documentation to include ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS codes to greatest specificity.
• Abstracts demographics into the information system accurately.
• Reviews documentation for medical necessity and audits orders/claims to minimize denials.
• Provides guidance to physicians and staff in resolving issues.
• Primary coding responsibility is all Evaluation and Management (E/M) leveling and related office services.

Responsibilities

Reviews, analyzes, and codes medical record documentation to include, but not limited to, medical, diagnostic, and procedural information for the correct ICD-10, CPT and/or HCPCS codes to the greatest specificity. Abstracts demographic and coding information into the information system accurately and completely. Reviews documentation for medical necessity. Audits orders and claims before submission for accuracy and to minimize claim denials. Assesses records and prepares reports. Provides technical guidance to physicians and other departmental staff in identifying and resolving issues or errors. Develops effective working relationships with physicians and other stakeholders. Primary coding responsibility is all Evaluation and Management (E/M) leveling along with additional ancillary services done in an office setting.

• Coding Certificate program (AAPC accredited) is Preferred
