Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Alabama is seeking an E&I Technician for our sawmill operations in Cottonton. The role involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation systems, with a focus on safe operation and lockout/tagout procedures.

Candidates should have 3–5 years of industrial E&I experience or 2–4 years with an accredited certificate, PLC/ladder logic knowledge, and the ability to read schematics. Willingness to work overtime and on 3rd shift is required.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years industrial E&I experience or
• 2-4 years industrial E&I certificate/diploma from accredited school
• Ability to work safely / understands Lock out / Tag out
• Ability to interpret electrical and instrumentation schematics and drawings
• Ability to use electrical test equipment, multi meter, megger, amp probe
• Good understanding of PLCs and ladder logic
• Trouble shoot electrical issues independently
• Familiar with 480v 3 phase motor starters
• Ability to trouble shoot 240v, 120v, and 24v circuits
• Good understanding of hydraulic systems and the ability to troubleshoot
• Knowledge of Variable Frequency Drives
• Available to work overtime and 3rd shift
• Pass written testing requirements
• High School Diploma or GED

Requirements
