Job summary

Matrix Service Company seeks an Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Superintendent to plan and supervise electrical and instrumentation installation on heavy industrial projects, including lockout/tagout, grounding, duct banks, cable trays, terminations, and testing. A WA EL01 General Journey Level electrical license is required.

The role oversees foremen, craft employees, and subcontractor personnel; emphasizes safety, scheduling, and collaboration with safety, engineering, and planning teams

Qualifications

  • Must hold current Washington State (EL01) General Journey Level electrical license.
  • Minimum of six years’ experience in a similar facility.
  • Minimum of two years of electrical, industrial or refinery maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of industry hand and power tools.
  • Complete Matrix Service Safety training and Client/Site specific training.

  • Plans and supervises work activities; determines method of construction, safety procedures, manpower, materials, equipment, and schedules.
  • Coordinates work with different crafts, company departments and subcontractors.
  • Maintains liaison with safety, engineering, estimating and planning to ensure compliance with safety policies, drawings, specs and schedules.
  • Monitors craft compliance with project safety program requirements and documents corrective actions.
  • Maintains liaison with Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control and Engineering to ensure required materials and inspections support craft activities and schedules.
  • Conducts field safety audits and participates in incident investigations as required.

Job Summary

The Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Superintendent is responsible for planning the works and daily supervision of subordinate foremen and craft employees and/or subcontractor personnel tasked with the electrical and instrumentation installation for heavy industrial projects including Lockout Tagout, grounding, duct banks, cable tray, conduit, cable pulling, terminations, lighting, gas detection, process instruments and tubing, gas chromatographs, and testing. The ideal candidate must hold current Washington State (EL01) General Journey Level electrical license.

The Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Superintendent is responsible for planning the works and daily supervision of subordinate foremen and craft employees and/or subcontractor personnel tasked with the electrical and instrumentation installation for heavy industrial projects including Lockout Tagout, grounding, duct banks, cable tray, conduit, cable pulling, terminations, lighting, gas detection, process instruments and tubing, gas chromatographs, and testing. Essential Functions
  • Actively supports the Company’s commitment to safety and its “Core Values.”
  • Represents the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company’s “Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.”
  • Plans and supervises work activities. Determines method of construction, safety procedures and requirements, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, temporary power sources, work schedule and documents actual hours worked.
  • Coordinates assigned work with different crafts, company departments and/or subcontractors.
  • Maintains liaison with safety department, engineering, estimating and planning to ensure work complies with safety policies, drawings, specifications and schedules.
  • Assists in resolving construction problems and safety issues, as required.
  • Conducts accident investigations with safety department, as required.
  • Maintains communication with the HR Department to resolve issues of requisitioning required manpower.
  • Monitors craft compliance with project safety program requirements. Documents and ensures corrective measures are implemented.
  • Maintains liaison with other departments (Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, and Engineering) to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support craft activities and project schedule.
  • Conducts field safety audits, as required, and maintains a complete understanding of Corporate Safety Manual and requirements.
  • Performs additional responsibilities, as directed.
Qualifications
  • 6+ years’ experience in similar facility, including construction technology, methods, equipment, tools, and work procedures; 1+ years’ experience supervising craft employees.
  • 4-year engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
  • Must hold current Washington State (EL01) General Journey Level electrical license.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of electrical, industrial or refinery maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of industry hand and power tools.
  • Complete the Matrix Service Safety training and Client/Site specific training.
  • Must obtain and maintain active status within the drug testing program.
  • Advanced understanding of construction scheduling and cost control.
  • Ability to supervise large groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize performance.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; good computer skills including MS Word and Excel.
Physical Requirements

Work includes field inspections and audits and the physical ability to conduct these field duties which require the following activities:

  • Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project via turnstile access.
  • Extensive walking in and around a construction site.
  • Tasks at heights including climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, and working on uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to work in small or confined spaces.
  • Ability to push, pull, lift, or carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. fall protection harness, hard hat, etc.).
  • Ability to be fit tested for and use a respirator.
  • Ability to perform work outside, which may include exposure to all types of weather conditions

Washington law requires pay information in job postings. The typical hiring range for this position in Washington is shown below. The pay rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and prior experience, specific skill set, geographic location, internal equity, and other factors influencing pay. As such, an actual salary may fall closer to one or the other end of this range, and in certain circumstances, may fall outside the listed hiring range.

Hiring range: $60.00-70.00 hour

Full range for this position, available over time: $60.00-70.00 hour
