Job summary

Hood-Container-1 is seeking an E&I Maintenance Technician to safely perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on electrical and process-control systems in a pulp and paper environment.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, repairing, installing, calibrating, and maintaining motors, drives, switchgear, PLCs, DCS, and process instrumentation. The role requires working hours that may include nights, weekends, and holidays, with a strong safety focus.

Qualifications

• Three+ years of industrial electrical and instrumentation experience.
• Strong knowledge of 480V and 4160V electrical systems, motor controls, PLCs, DCS controls, and process instrumentation.
• Candidate safety focus with Lockout/Tagout, arc-flash, confined-space, and PPE compliance.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on electrical and process-control systems.
• Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and manuals; document work in CMMS.
• Coordinate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams for repairs and planned maintenance.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns, identify root causes, and restore production efficiently.

J ob Summary

The Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Maintenance Technician is responsible for safely performing preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on the electrical and process-control systems that support reliable pulp and paper mill operations. This position troubleshoots, repairs, installs, calibrates, and maintains equipment such as motors, variable-frequency drives, motor control centers, switchgear, PLCs, DCS systems, flow meters, pressure sensors, control valves, and other industrial instrumentation.

The E&I Technician responds promptly to equipment breakdowns, identifies root causes, and completes effective repairs to minimize downtime and restore production safely. Responsibilities also include interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and technical manuals; documenting completed work in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS); and providing clear updates during shift handovers.

This role works closely with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to coordinate repairs and planned maintenance activities. The ideal candidate has at least three years of industrial electrical and instrumentation experience, preferably in a pulp or paper mill, with strong knowledge of 480V and 4160V electrical systems, motor controls, PLCs, DCS controls, and process instrumentation.

A strong commitment to workplace safety is essential, including compliance with Lockout/Tagout, arc-flash, confined-space, and PPE requirements. Candidates must be able to work in an industrial environment with noise, dust, temperature changes, climbing, lifting, and confined spaces. Rotating shifts—including nights, weekends, and holidays—may be required. Successful completion of the company’s entry assessment, written E&I test, and hands-on skills test is required.
