Job description

Reports To: SR. Instrument and Electrical Designer

Location: Houston, Texas

FLSA Status:

Summary:

A I&E Designer I (D I) is responsible for developing initial layouts, overseeing revisions of existing computer aided design (CAD) files, and creating/manipulating drawings from conceptual markups or verbal instructions to the Company’s or Client’s requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Efficiently create and modify drawings and 3D models based on designer or engineering markups, ensuring strict adherence to company and client standards.
• Prepare all drawings and standards in full accordance with company and client requirements.
• Coordinate designs effectively with other disciplines, including civil, mechanical and GIS.
• Operate with minimal supervision, providing valuable guidance to junior drafting personnel.
• Rigorously review drawings for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with company design standards.
• Develop and implement new company design standards to enhance overall efficiency.
• Guarantee the quality of all work and meet required schedules for assigned tasks and projects.
• Support document control and organize drawing files for streamlined access and management.
• Actively participate in drawing reviews and coordination meetings.
• Exhibit a strong willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and software.
• Strictly adhere to all corporate safety protocols.
• Some travel may be required.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Solid understanding of instrumentation and electrical engineering concepts.
• Proficiency with CAD and other software packages in standalone configuration as well as network setups (e.g., AutoCAD, Plant 3D, CadWorx Plant, CadWorx P&ID, Navisworks, Bluebeam, Google Earth).
• Ability to recognize design issues/conflicts and communicate to supervisor or more senior staff.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to organize and prioritize project workload.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Team player – able to communicate and relate well with others.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Occasional lifting of office supplies or equipment up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to move around the office for daily tasks and meetings, and job site visits, when required.
