Job summary

TWD is seeking an Intermediate Capital Cost Estimator (Electrical & Instrumentation) to join our Pittsburgh, PA team. The role focuses on estimating E&I scope for high-speed manufacturing and food & beverage facilities, integrating HACCP-driven design considerations and sanitary requirements.

The candidate will perform detailed take-offs, price automation systems, and coordinate with vendors to obtain current market pricing, while ensuring safe, compliant, and cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years estimating experience in Electrical & Instrumentation for process/manufacturing or F&B environments.
• Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Technology, or Journeyman/Certification with estimating experience.
• Knowledge of instrumentation and control systems designed for food safety and HACCP compliance.
• Familiarity with AACE Recommended Practices; certification is an asset.
• Experience with consulting cost and schedule risk assessments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• E&I take-offs from single-line diagrams, instrument indexes, cable schedules, and loop diagrams for power, control, and network architectures.
• Account for HACCP requirements in E&I estimates, including washdown-rated enclosures and sanitary sensors.
• Estimate costs for process automation including machine vision, PLCs, DCS, SCADA, and automated packaging controls.
• Price greenfield underground duct banks and brownfield upgrades without disrupting production or compromising food safety.
• Apply labor hours for cable pulling, terminations, calibration, and loop testing, considering hygiene protocols.
• Author the E&I section of the Basis of Estimate (BOE) and engage vendors for current pricing.
